Performance and Attribution Analyst

The main function of the role is to review and calculate performance returns for Funds, Clients and Benchmarks as required, and support the Performance and Reporting Manager.

Main Responsibilities

  • Participate in the oversight of the outsourced measurement of investment performance.
  • Input into op model definition for future state Performance measurement calculation including bringing function back in house.
  • Calculation of Client and Benchmark Performance returns for both internal and external usage.
  • Calculation of stock and sector level attribution.
  • Investigation and resolution of Performance and data queries.
  • Provide Peer group analysis.
  • Preparation of monthly, Quarterly and Annual Performance reporting data and reports.
  • Contribute to the Performance Reporting training materials, procedures, and how-to guides.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and assist in developing strong relations with other teams throughout the business.
  • Provide support to colleagues.
  • Use judgement for tasks with the support from Manager- Performance and Reporting.
  • Ad-hoc work as and when required.

Experience Required

  • 3 - 4 years of experience calculating Client (Segregated and Pooled), Fund and Benchmark Performance.
  • Experience working in a Performance measurement team within an Asset Manager or Third Party provider. 
  • Experience of calculating performance returns using both in house processes / systems or third party systems.
  • Exposure to Equity, Fixed and Multi Asset funds / securities.
  • Experience with Market Vendor systems such as Bloomberg or Morningstar.
  • Experience of establishing, maintaining and working within disciplined procedures with tight deadlines.
  • Use of Third-party Performance external and in-house report production systems, this would ideally include exposure to StatPro; report building would be a bonus.

Skills Required

  • Numerate and accurate, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong understanding of investment instruments across all asset classes.
  • Strong understanding of data management best practice, data governance and quality assurance.
  • Understanding of derivatives and FX forward instruments.
  • Ability to analyse complex data sets
  • Advanced MS Excel skills.
  • SQL or Power BI skills
  • Must show the ability to meet deadlines, establish priorities and concentrate on detailed information.
